<<< WARNING >>> sad and sentimental post ahead

I was reading my friends blog this afternoon and one of her friends' 15 month old little boys died. They think that he got out of bed, wanted to play, and got stuck under their Luv Sac. (Those giant bean bags). The dad found him on his way to work...I know, all I can do is cry. Especially as we have been seeing my new nephew fight so hard for his life. Kids are amazing and precious. I take Ava for granted a lot, I don't love her as much as I should all the time and I have a lot to learn. I know though, that I would give my life for her, I would do anything to take away her pains and troubles...I can't describe my love for her. It is beyond words. I can't image losing her. I love being her mom. I found a poem that was on their blog from a friend and thought that it was so touching....

The Cord

We are connected,
My child and I, by
An invisible cord
Not seen by the eye.

It's not like the cord
That connects us 'til birth
This cord can't been seen
By any on Earth.

This cord does it's work
Right from the start.
It binds us together
Attached to my heart.

I know that it's there
Though no one can see
The invisible cord
From my child to me.

The strength of this cord
Is hard to describe.
It can't be destroyed
It can't be denied.

It's stronger than any cord
Man could create
It withstands the test
Can hold any weight.

And though you are gone,
Though you're not here with me,
The cord is still there
But no one can see.

It pulls at my heart
I am bruised...I am sore,
But this cord is my lifeline
As never before.

I am thankful that God
Connects us this way
A mother and child
Death can't take it away!

What a sad situation! Thanks for sharing this poem. Kids are so precious. :) It's hard to explain your love for your child to someone who hasn't experienced it yet.
