We found out today that we got the house we put an offer in on a few weeks ago. It was a short sale so it was a bit more of a process, but not too bad. I don't like working with banks, they don't follow the rules and then make up new ones at any given moment. I am glad that this is over! (hopefully if everything else goes well) We have a closing date of June 15th.
Here is a picture of the front:
Here is the first project on my list:
I have to paint this room before Ava sees it!
There are a ton of little projects we have lined up for this place, but it was very affordable for our first little starter home.
So far being a real adult is kicking my butt! You think that all these decisions will be so fun, like finding your first house, but it is nothing of the sort. House hunting has really not been so fun. There are tons of buyers (including investors with cash), and every house has multiple offers on it. We are just happy we at least have something, and that we don't have to look for another house for a while. (This one has 5 bedrooms and an unfinished basement, so there is room to grow if we choose to in the future)
I am the worlds worst decision maker, and married to the worlds second worse decision maker, so this has been tough. My first instinct for things is always, "no." Now we have made two huge decisions in a matter of months. This is a record for us. The first decision, moving to Utah, has been okay. Riley LOVES his job. (Ironically, our new home will be very close to the new NSA building they are constructing here) Being close to family has been nice. We have had some great visitors so far and more scheduled to come!
The iMac is still packed up and in storage until we move again next month, and it's the computer with all the pictures on it. So, no pictures till next month! Stinky Blogger Award goes to me...I know!

hey friend! that looks like a sweet deal. Do you mean that you are painting Ava's room like that? Or you are painting OVER that? Just curious... I'm excited to see all your rad creative skills in action and I'm sure your house will be A-class.
we are driving through UTAH tomorrow. Shoot me an email if you want us to stop by. =)
Good for you, Lindsay! Way to be an adult! I am all signed up for the certification class from June 13 - 24th, so I'm sure I'll be seeing you some time during that stay.I'll be excited to see your new digs.
One question - what's wrong with the room you don't want Ava to see - isn't it cute enough for you?
Mom
:) Congrats on the house!! It makes me smile looking at your pictures because I have looked at your house in our quest to find one in Utah. :)
Congrats on the new house!!! I love being in a house that you can change up BUT its expensive AND you are always changing AND painting SUCKS! Im in process of painting the kids rooms and touching up(which is the same thing as FULLY painting but one less coat) our beadboard and hallways from all the fingerprints constantly being washed off an food constantly being washed off. Its a love hate relationship!
Lindsay you make me laugh! Only because I totally know what you mean every sentence of the way!! I'm so excited to get you guys in this house and be neighbors too!!
Here's hoping to close June 13th!!
